Inquiring minds want to know. What kind of dog does this look like? I’m leaning toward a Bernese Mountain Dog. Too bad we can’t run a DNA check on it!

It’s got kind of a BMD head, but the body has too much white. BMDs have white chests but their flanks and backs are black. I don’t know what it might be!

I’m thinkin’ it’s a mutt, darlin’! Pretty sure there is no particular breed involved in this painting. Probably just someone’s pooch! : )

Jan – I think you are right .. the more I look at it I am thinking “Beloved Pet” and that’s about it. OCD said maybe a Newfoundland (Landseer).

Well its markings could be that of a Lanseer (newfoundland) However the head would probably be bigger. Traditionally spaniels were painted quite a bit in that era, he looks like an oversize King Charles Spaniel. Hmmmm i will keep thinking!

Reminds me of a german shorthaired pointer, but by a painter with an astigmatism! Very odd perspective in that painting.

Hi. I just purchased a dog painting by M. Morgan and the signatures look very similar. Were you ever able to find anything out about Mr. or Ms. Morgan? Are you from the Midwest, perchange? Mine appears to be of a greyhound but is too is also at least 50, 60 years old…Let me know if you can pretty please!

I have a picture of 3 dogs that looks very similar too this picture with a similar signature. I also thought it was a old picture but I was thinking more along the lines of a british oil painter possibly 50 to 60 years ago. My picture is signed by M Morgan in a red signature on the red hand corner of the picture. If you find anything out please let me know also.
