The More People I Meet, The Better I Like My Dogs!

About Me and My Dogs

I live in Northern Virginia outside of Washington, D.C. with two lovely Black Labrador Retrievers. It will become obvious to any readers of this blog that I spend way too much time with my dogs.  I live here because of my job, not because I want to.  If I had my choice, I would be Sebastian, Florida (during the winter) and in the hills of North Carolina (during the summer).  I have lived abroad for many years, having spent time in Ireland, Hong Kong, Nigeria, and Benin.

I love to go to yard sales and thrift stores and I am often joined by my two dogs who like to bark from the back seat of the car when I spend too much time at a particular sale.

Clover was born June 2001 in Dublin, Ireland where I lived at the time.  I got her as a 10-week old puppy.  The first year we were together, I doubted my decision to get a dog every single day, especially on the days that she was destroying my house.  If I had only crate-trained her!  But, back then I thought it was cruel, and after-all we never crated any of our other dogs!   But then, none of them were as nuts as Clover.

Cosmo was my own rescue from a stupid woman on Craigs List in Virginia.  She decided to get her kid a puppy at Christmas and then was about to dump him at the pound at New Year’s.  Her loss is my gain. He is the sweetest dog I have ever known.

I was just diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and am dealing with my new reality with as much humor as possible.  I imagine I will write about it from time-to-time, but I don’t intend to turn this blog into a pity party.

Stay tuned …

  1. I like your blog and photos! I was looking for a photo of a barking lab for an illustration I’m working on, and got side tracked…

    All the best,
